About Me

Hello! I am a Licensed MFT and registered associate PCC therapist, college professor, mother, and pet parent! Before pursuing a career in counseling/therapy, I had been an anthropology professor for 6 years. While I continue to teach, mostly online, I put most of my time in being a therapist. My anthropology (and literature) background led me to be very interested in human behavior and psychology, essentially why we act the way we do, and why/how that is dependent on our environment.

I like to incorporate a humanist, feminist, attachment, and psychodynamic lens when working with clients, as this is a way to merge all my education, and to really show up as my most authentic self in the therapy room.

I am also EMDR trained, and really enjoy utilizing EMDR as a client and therapist! EMDR follows the AIP model, which means tapping into neural networks, or neural maps that have been created and solidified throughout one’s life, generally due to a traumatic event(s). Using EMDR can help clients process past triggers, memories, feelings, body sensations that cause a level of disturbance, but in the room with me (once the client feel safe and ready). Re-remembering these events in a safe environment, using bilateral simulation (rapid eye movement or tapping) can help clients re-process the event and allow it to consolidate in a less dysregulating manner
